Brief Profile
 
Born at Delhi, Dr SAVINA BANSAL all through her educational career maintained an outstanding scholastic record.
She earned her double graduation, earlier Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Punjab University Chandigarh and later in
Electronics & Comm. Engg (Honors) from Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh. She pursued her
Master’s Degree in Computer Engg from Thapar Institute of Engg & Tech (Deemed Univ.), Patiala with Honors and PhD (Engg) from
Department of Electronics & Computer Engg, IIT Roorkee in the area of Parallel & Distributed Computing.
 
One of the Nominees for Indian National Academy of Engg (INAE) Innovative Potential Awards in 2005, she started her professional career as an Executive Engineer with Punjab State Govt. Enterprise,
PUNWIRE (1988-90) and subsequently moved to Technical Education with Thapar Institute of Engg & Tech (Deemed Univ.) Patiala (1990-93) and later to Punjab Govt established, Giani Zail Singh College of Engg & Tech Bathinda (1993-2011), where in 2005 she rose to the position of
Professor & Head in Electronics & Comm. Engg. In Sep 2011 she joined as Director, Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engg & Tech (A Punjab State Govt
Establishment) at Lehragaga in Distt Sangrur of Punjab.
 
An optimist and committed to the field, Dr SAVINA Bansal has an active career spreading over twenty four years of intensive Academics,
Research and Administrative activities resulting in quality
professional output in Engineering and Research. She has published a book/monograph on ‘Task Scheduling for Multiprocessor Systems’ brought out by Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany. Also she is an author of 61 (34 International & 27 National) research publications/articles,
with many a selected for presentation at the most reputed Int’l platforms around the globe and have appeared in peer-reviewed reputed Int’l Journals that include
IEEE Transactions on Parallel & Distributed Systems (TPDS) (with citation-count=63 as Top 100 cited papers for TPDS during 2001-2011),
Elsevier’s Int’l Journal of Parallel & Distributed Computing (JPDC), Int’l Journal of Parallel Computing (ParCo)
(with citation-count=24 as Top 100 cited papers for Parallel Computing: 2006-2011), Int’l Journal of Microelectronics & Reliability and Int’l level Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). Besides an expert for reviewing research publications for IEEE Transactions of Parallel & Distributed Systems, IEEE Trans. on Computers, ACM Trans. and Int’l Journal of Operations Research, she is a technical reviewer for Institution of Engineers (India) Computer Division Journals and prestigious Mcgraw-Hill Publications too. She has also carried on a Research-cum-Consultancy work for Indian Air Force in 2007-08.
She has been on the Advisory committees of several Int’l/Nat’l Tech events: Journals/Conferences/ Seminars /STCs and has chaired a number
of Technical sessions also. She has supervised, 19 MTech Level Thesis, besides 25 Institution of Engineers (I) student Projects.
Besides this 3 students are pursuing their PhD with her. She has also evaluated 35 M Tech Thesis of various universities.
 
Apart from Fellow of IE(I) and IETE, she is also a Senior Member of Computer Society of India and a Life member of ISTE.
She is on the Board of Studies of Punjab Technical Univ. Jalandhar for Electronics & Comm. Engg and has earlier been on the
Board of Studies in Computer Engg of Punjabi Univ. Patiala.
 
Her current areas of interest include Wireless Sensor Networks, Real Time Systems, Multiprocessor Scheduling, Grid Computing,
Fault-tolerant Computing and Interconnection Networks. She has involved herself in teaching Computer Communication Networks,
Communication Systems including Analog & Digital, Wireless and Mobile Comm., besides Electronic Devices & Circuits both Analog and
Digital. Her biographical profile was also selected for inclusion in USA editions of Marquis
‘Who’s who in Science and Engineering’ and ‘Who’s who in ASIA’.
 
She believes to move with global changes and feels that ‘ethics’ needs a much stronger focus.
